Road to Recovery

It is official! The meniscus in my left knee has significant tears; my right shoulder has severe arthritis of the AC joint. I will have two separate surgeries. Due to the shorter recovery period; the knee will get cut first. Hopefully I will be digging deep and bringing it within the next 6 to 9 months. I will keep you posted on how the recovery goes. My new success story begins NOW!

P90X Upper Body

I have been doing the X on and off for over a year now. I am having chronic knee problems and havent completed a full 90 days due to surgeries and injuries. I believe I have a solution to my problem. I will try 90 days of P90X without legs or plyo. I am starting today and substituting core synergistics for plyo and upper body plus for legs and back. My legs are already strong, the problem is my knees are damaged. Day 1 went great as usual. Stay tuned because this success story has a new begining.

7 pounds in 4 Days!

It's Sunday and I am down 7 pounds. I have 71 more to go. This will be my last ride on this rollar coaster. I am determined to fight through the pain. I am in no hurry but I can not afford to relaps and go backwards again. Last April I dropped from 272 to 240. Then I needed surgery to repair an old nagging military injury to my right knee. I managed to maintain for awhile by eating right, but then the stress of college, kids, and a pregnant wife took its toll. And I jumped up to a high of 278 last week. The clothes I was preparing to get rid of are tight now. That is depressing. For the record, the military preformed a vasectomy which failed. Which explains the stress from having an unexpected child. He is a blessing but I wasnt ready AT ALL! I will try and play basketball again tonight. It's like riding a bike. If you fall down, just get back up and try again. Thank you for the support! My goal will be reached!

Low and behold!

Went and played basketball yesterday. Played for a couple of hours and did fine. Last game of the night, I jumped for a rebound and landed on someones foot. Rolled my right ankle pretty bad. Now it is swollen and I can not bare any weight on it. Lets see how long this injury will take.

Another round of the X

Started another round of P90X. This time, I am doing the lean version. I am looking to shred this body fat once and for all. No excuses, no sickness, and no injuries! I will say, I cant wait to get my Bowflex SelecTech Dumbbells. I snapped a green band and it popped me in the gut! Yes that left a mark. The handle on my black band needs to be replaced. That would be very very painful to get hit with a 50 pound band. bands are great for a couple rounds, but they wear out with extended use. I would recommend the Bowflex dumbbells if you are going to do P90X. Yes they are expensive, but compare it to buying a full set of 17 dumbbells. Not so expensive any more huh? By the way, Bowflex is offering a free stand with your dumbbell purchase until April 30, 2010.

Dumbbells or Resistance Bands

Which do you prefer? Well it depends on the exercise. I love the mobility of the resistance bands. With dumbbells I love the ability to consentrate on a muscle group and also use them during lunges. I currently use resistance bands, but will have a new set of dumbells in the near future. I will keep you posted.
